Nigeria: Eko DISCO wants 21-year jail term for cable vandals

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said it has restored full power transmission to the nation’s grid after a collapse at 16.44pm on Saturday.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the company, Seun Olagunju, TCN stated that the partial collapse of the system was specifically caused by a sudden loss of 200megawatts, MW, of generation due to technical reasons and that the problem was quickly resolved by the company’s engineers, hence the restoration of full power transmission to the grid.
It recalled that low generation has been experienced in the country recently due to gas inadequacy to the thermal power plants, following the vandalism of gas pipelines.
“The grid has since been restored and available generation is being evacuated from all running power plants and transmitted by TCN to the networks of the Discos for onward delivery to the customers,” the statement said.
